Hunt the Brothers Cabal!

In a steam-punk world of magic & dark powers, track down a necromancer of some little infamy & his vampire brother in order to save the world, of course.

Based on the series Johannes Cabal the Necromancer by Jonathan L. Howard. Players take on the roles of various characters in the book and stop that verdammt Cabal before he screws up big time.

Every time I read him, I ask myself, why don’t more people know the books of Jonathan L. Howard? More to the point, how can they not love his creation, Johannes Cabal? (A necromancer of some little infamy).

For those who know the books and adore them, I’m sorry to say (and you can probably tell by the title) no one will be taking the role of Johannes Cabal and his brother Horst. Except your faithful GM, of course. Maybe that’s why I wrote this.

To get the fans salivating, you will get to play one of the characters from the book. Those being:

Detective Inspector Frank Barrow, a retired officer who has had his run-ins with Cabal before.

Leonie Barrow, his daughter, who has a love/hate relationship with the necromancer. She probably knows even better than anyone, even his brother.

Ms. Smith, AKA The Witch of the Necropolis, whom has both tussled and allied with Johannes multiple times.

Zarenyia, the succubine spider-devil, introduced in A Long Spoon, and who now lives for making Cabal blush.

Mr. Enright, a gentlemen amateur spy. Remember him from the afterword of Johannes Cabal the Detective? He’s a more than capable fellow.

Professor Stone, antiquary and anthropologist, also of the Dee Society. The Dee Society dedicates themselves to killing things that go bump in the night. They considered killing Johannes Cabal once, but he has this strange habit of saving the world.

So if you haven’t taken the time to read Johannes Cabal the Necromancer, now’s the time. And if you don’t, your loss. You can still enjoy this event set in a magical world of airships, vampires, Lovecraftian beasts, and dry wit. Band together and hunt the brothers Cabal before they really make a mess of things.

Keep watching this page as we get closer to Gen Con for more information about this event.

Sincerely, an author with if not as great a talent, at least the same middle initial,

James L. Wilber
