The Glitterverse: Fairy Lights is set in modern Toronto for 4-6 player characters. The Glitterverse is a toned-down, friendlier World of Darkness. A Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead approach. Three of the players are human, using the World of Darkness basic rules set. One character is a werewolf, but not a Forsaken. Two characters have special abilities (shaman-like qualities) from the God Machine Chronicles book.
The story surrounds a group of friends and associates that have been around the supernatural block a few times. While on their way to a Dr. Cornel West lecture at the University of Toronto, they find themselves walking into a market full of wonderous things, people, and creatures.
Loosely based on topics found in Changeling: The Lost, the characters have to decide if they want to keep the secret of the market, close the access to the market, or possibly exploit the market. They also find that some of the denizens of the market need their help. What will they do?
Characters:
Paul Duffy: A young, gay man who values life and treats people with respect – be they human or not. He has trouble with relationships (don’t we all).
Geoff Duffy: Paul’s older brother. He’s a monster hunter, although the monster-equals-evil-and-must-die approach has tapered down to: did the monster hurt people and what was the reason?
Vincent Rabbit: A young professor and budding shaman. He’s also Paul’s boyfriend. He’s a voice of reason, but quick to passionate outbursts about inequality.
Roy Boarfoot: Old-time shaman and Vincent’s grandfather. Roy is an unofficial council member of the Blackfoot Confederacy – he’s the guy people go to when things get weird.
Lily Thornton: Born a werewolf, currently Yum’s girlfriend, and appears to be in her mid-twenties, when she’s closer to mid-forties. Lily is chipper, but also fearless. She’s mature enough to deal with all the testosterone surrounding her.
Yum: The clown, the one who points out the obvious and constantly questions people’s actions. He’s the hippy cynic, the smartass who’s also really kind.
